Councillors say drivers parking badly on Southampton Road in Ringwood are risking people's lives - by forcing them to step off the pavement and into a busy road.
Southampton Road, adjoining Carvers Recreation Ground, is covered by a Traffic Regulation Order which prohibits parking at any time.
The road is the main access into the Town Centre and over the A31 from Poulner.
Ringwood Town Council says the No Parking restriction not only covers the road itself, but also the adjoining footpath - but many cars are still parking along it, blocking the pavement.
Cllr Brian Terry, Town Mayor of Ringwood said:
"Inconsiderate drivers parking on the grass verge outside Carvers Recreation Ground with parts of their vehicles overhanging the footpath are forcing mums and dads with prams and pushchairs, as well as the elderly, onto the busy Southampton Road"
"As the days get shorter and early mornings and early evenings get darker, this illegal parking on the pavements exacerbates the position and puts mothers, fathers, young children and the elderly in serious danger.
"We have therefore formally asked the District Council to enforce the Traffic Regulation Order in all cases where a vehicle obstructs the footpath in Southampton Road."
