Lidl the fashion line cheap clothing range rival Primark

Love Lidl for its cheap prices, and abundance of amazing foreign treats you can never find anywhere else? Well soon you'll also be able to pick up a denim shirt, skinny jeans and faux leather jacket with your weekly shop - as the budget supermarket chain are branching out into womenswear.

From next Monday Lidl stores will be selling womenswear at competitive prices, in an attempt to rival bargain retailers like Primark, as well as supermarket clothing ranges like George at ASDA, Tesco's F&F and Sainsbury's Tu.

A far cry from the chain's previous attempts at clothing (if you need a cheap and comfy vest or hiking boots, Lidl is a good place to look), this "high-end, on-trend" clothing line will feature £5.99 denim shirts, £9.99 ankle boots, £6.99 jeans and £14.99 pleather jackets - the latter is being billed as the "star item" by Lidl's Josie Stone, non-food buying manager.

"This is the first time ever that we've done such a high-end fashion promotion and we're hugely excited about launching these lines on 25 August" she said.

"Not only are these jackets bang on trend for this season but they're also £15 a pop, which is unbeatable value for such high quality . So we'd advise customers to be quick getting down to stores on the 25th because they're likely to be snapped up very quickly."

So will Lidl be the new Primark? With limited floor space and sizing compared to Primarni that's pretty doubtful, but we're sure customers will be intrigued with the relatively on-trend casualwear. But would you buy clothing at Lidl? Let us know in the comments below.
