Golf is a challenging sport, but it can also be incredibly rewarding. When you have a good caddy by your side, it can make the experience even more enjoyable and successful. The same is the case for Lexi Thompson who has a knowledgeable caddy by her side.

Thompson believes that a trusted caddie is always the need of the hour. That’s why for the most part of her career, she has had a family member on her bag. Even today, her caddie is one of her close family members.

For many golfers, finding the right caddie can be a massive task. However, the 28-year-old golfer didn’t have to spend time doing so. Her current caddie is her elder brother Nicholas Thompson. This, thus, makes it easier for the team to shine on the greens.

However, not only this, the American professional golfer has always been lucky in terms of caddies. In her early golfing journey, her father Scott, and her other brother, Curtis, have been by her side while she played on the greens.

Coming back to Nicholas, he has been caddying for her little sister since November 2022. He too has a golfing career which he started way back when he was a college student at Georgia Tech University. This has therefore been a plus point for Lexi.

Nicholas participated in various tournaments when he was an amateur. He even won the 2005 Jones Cup Invitational and in the same year, he turned professional. Additionally, he was also in the sixth ranking position in the Golfweek amateur rankings at the end of his Georgia Tech career.

He postponed going professional in order to make the United States Walker Cup squad. It was worth the wait as he eventually played in the Walker Cup. In the same year, he captured the William C. Campbell Trophy. He has played on several tours including the PGA Tour. There, the 40-year-old played in 229 events. He joined the tour in 2006 and was able to secure top 10 finishes for 13 times. Though he wasn’t able to win a single time, he made $5,729,551 in earnings.

Nicholas has also played on the Korn Ferry Tour. He competed in 189 events there; winning the HSBC New Zealand PGA Championship was his highest point. In addition, he achieved 21 Top-10 finishes and was able to make the cut in 98 tournaments. His last appearance was in the year 2022 when he played for both tours.

The Brother-sister’s journey together on the course

Since November 2022, Nicholas has been caddying for her little sister. Lexi has been able to play 11 tournaments so far in this period. Unfortunately, she didn’t have a great season since she missed out on making the cuts in more than half the events.

To be precise, the eleven-time LPGA Tour winner was unable to make the cut in seven events. However, she did have a good finish in the Cognizant Founders Cup in May where she finished in the T31 position.  She stood at the T19 position in the recently concluded Kroger Queen City Championship. However, one must not forget that she will be representing Team USA in the Solheim Cup this year.

Lexi is already a wonderful golfer and with the expertise that his brother has from his golfing career will prove to be her best asset. Choosing a caddie from her family is a wise decision that she has made. What do you think about the duo? Let us know in the comments below.
