The Wimbledon Championships have to come to an end with some bitter and sweet results. While watching Rafael Nadal walk out of the tournament was painful for tennis fans, witnessing the Serbian legend Novak Djokovic successfully defend his trophy was a treat.

Further, there were many other high-caliber players who were expected in the tournament but didn’t show up like the Canadian tennis ace Eugenie Bouchard. However, now Bouchard, who backed off to safeguard her protected raking, is in the same boat as the semifinalist Nadal. They both are taking a small break before gearing up for the last Grand Slam of the year.

Rafael Nadal and Eugenie Bouchard’s vacation

Nadal suffered an abdominal injury while playing against the American Taylor Fritz in the semifinal of the Wimbledon Championships, bidding adieu to his dream of securing a Calendar Grand Slam. Currently, he is taking some time off the court to recover and rest. And what place would be more peaceful than the seaside?

Bouchard, the 2014 Wimbledon Championship finalist, who walked out of the circuit after sustaining a shoulder injury at the Guadalajara Open last year, also visited the sea. Sharing a picture of her visit on her Instagram account, she wrote, “Perfect summer weekend wearing the new Palm tree crew and Solid & Striped collection.”

Earlier, the Canadian tried to enter the French Open by taking a wild card entry. But she unfortunately couldn’t fully recover from her injury. Following that, because of the unavailability of ranking points at Wimbledon, Bouchard decided to save her protected ranking entry for the US Open.

However, this has brought her absence from the tours to a total of 16 months and fans are starting to lose hope about the former World No.5 reaching her peak form again.

Nadal’s disappointing end to his Wimbledon campaign

Nadal came as one of the biggest contenders for the Wimbledon crown, having secured the first two Grand Slams of the season. However, his campaign at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club ended in disappointment, as his abdominal injury prevented him from battling Kyrgios in the semifinal.

Now, the former World No.1 will focus on ending the season on a high, as the hard-court season will kick off soon. The US Open will give him the chance to equal Serena Williams’ tally of 23 Grand Slam titles. With Djokovic’s participation in the Grand Slam still in doubt, this could be a golden opportunity for the Spaniard to secure yet another major this season.
